Destiny 2: Forsaken

Bungie released the launch trailer for Destiny 2: Forsaken, a massive expansion for the game which releases on Sept. 4.

Forsaken opens with the death of fan favorite Cayde-6, everyone’s favorite Nathan Fillion-voiced robot. Alongside a new story, new equipment, a new raid, the PvEvP Gambit mode, and expanded content, Forsaken will start the second year of Destiny 2. Most fans are looking to Forsaken to be a massive expansion to the game, similar to The Taken King for Destiny 1.

Destiny 2’s new content marks the beginning of Season 4 for the game, referred to as Season of the Outlaw. To pique players’ interest in what’s to come, Bungie also released a roadmap of what to expect from upcoming seasons and the content that will be releases in them. The Forsaken Annual Pass acts as the post-launch support similar to previous Destiny expansions. Black Armory, Joker’s Wild, and Penumbra introduce new endgame activities and modes, alongside new challenges for players to complete.

Each new season of Destiny 2: Forsaken will have a free update that brings new weapons, events, and activities for players to participate in. Those who purchase the Annual Pass will be granted even more new activities, especially endgame content that hardcore Destiny fans will seek out. Raid lairs, exotic gear, triumphs, and activities will be locked behind the annual pass.

As Destiny 2 has transformed over the past year it has seen highs and lows. Last winter with the release of the Curse of Osiris DLC, Destiny 2 seemed to hit a snag as fans were disappointed with the state of the game, including meaningful activities to fuel the Destiny hobby and how microtransactions were affecting seasonal events. The Taken King transformed Destiny 1 into something great and Bungie is giving the impression that Forsaken will be doing the same.
